General Information

The Iowa County Master Gardeners are offering a $500 scholarship to a deserving Iowa County resident pursuing a horticultural related degree from a college or university in the state of Iowa. Any student that has completed 24 credit hours at an Iowa college or university may apply. The one year scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $500 to one candidate.

Applicants for this scholarship should:

1. Complete a one page application form (attached).
2. Write and attach a 150-200 word essay as to how this scholarship will help you pursue a career in the horticulture field. Please include information about any special circumstances that are of a personal or financial nature that you have overcome or still face.
3. Append two letters of recommendation.
4. Return the application, essay, and recommendations to the Iowa County Extension office by April 12, 2013.

The mission of the Master Gardener Program is to provide current, research-based, home horticultural information and education to the citizens of Iowa through Iowa State University Extension programs and projects. Through participation in educational activities, Master Gardeners also increase their own personal knowledge in horticulture. Master Gardeners extend Iowa State University Extension's consumer horticulture education programs through volunteer activity.
