Estimating Cost
The cost of attendance is an estimate of the costs of being enrolled for one year at Iowa State University. Students are assigned a financial aid budget based on their estimated cost of attendance, which is used to determine the maximum amount of financial aid needed. To help with understanding your cost of attendance, planning tools are available. Some of these tools can help you create budgets and lay out costs specific to your enrollment situation.
You may be eligible to complete a cost of attendance adjustment form if your education-related expenses exceed the amount of financial aid included in your cost of attendance.

The ISU Office of Student Financial Aid Net Price Calculator (NPC) is intended for use by newly entering first-year students (first time, full time). This calculator is populated with the most recent ‘complete’ year of data available, per the Department of Education NPC template.
You make be eligible to adjust your cost of attendance if education-related expenses exceed the costs already built into your cost of attendance. An increase to the cost of attendance ONLY increases the eligibility to apply for loans.
